No case of HIV has ever been attributed to tattooing. You're worrying about nothing.

You're very unlikely to get any thing from the process of getting a tattoo from a good shop. But it can be kind of risky to go to a friends house to get a tattoo, since the environment is not always sterilized or properly set up for tattooing. As long as he used new needles and showed you that they haven't been reused and wore gloves then you shouldn't have much risk of getting any thing.

You could have picked up a cold from your daughter or from some thing else going around, as the weather gets colder some people get sick. You can always see a doctor and have a test for HIV done.

If the instruments used in tattooing are properly sterilized there is little risk of HIV.

And it usually take years to develop AIDS from an initial HIV infection. So the flu like symptoms you experienced are more likely imaginary than otherwise.

You cannot contract HIV from a paper towel dropped on the floor, or from clean tattoo practices like you describe.
