I told them about my symptoms and sheepishly admitted that I had vaginal discomfort and thought there was a possibility I have herpes from what I have read online. The doctor called in a female nurse in the room and asked me a bunch of mandatory questions like why I thought it was herpes, if I had been sexually abused, yada yada yada. They asked me if I was pregnant I said NO. They asked my last menstrual cycle and I told them, then they asked if I had been sexually active since then and I said NO.
So then I go into a doctors room and another nurse comes in. I tell her the same thing about herpes and then she asks about my menstrual cycle and if I am sexual active or pregnant. Then another doctor comes in, we go through the same questions, I pee in a cup, then he does a pelvic exam. He said there was definite redness and then took a swab and said they would do tests. I asked when I would be able to find out if it was (herpes...I didn't flat out say herpes but since I had mentioned it a 100 times now and shed any fear of mentioning it by now) tonight or if I had to wait. He said it would be a couple days and if they didn't call it was good because no news was good news and they didn't call patients back if their tests came up clear.
Meanwhile they tell me that my urine came up not clear so they gave me an antibiotic for a urine infection (suprax) and another antibiotic just in case it is an std (zithromax). I go get my prescriptions filled and I head back home.
Ok now. The next morning I woke up at 4am vomiting uncontrollably with a horrible headache. Go to the hospital this time and they tell my I am dehydrated and I had a bad reaction to the zithromax, They also ran a urine analysis and my urine came up clear. No infection. What the hell.
I go home. Wait another 5 days. Everything is back to normal except the vagina is still burning and now I have rubbed it, because it developed an itch, it literally bleeds when I touch it so now it really burns which totally makes work miserable. But I call the place because I was having trouble with my phone and obviously something is wrong with me and maybe their call didn't go through to my phone. I get a hold of someone in the lab and she tells me that my chlamydia/gonorrhea test came back negative. Uh great I already knew I didn't have that. So I asked about the herpes test. She tells me they didn't order a herpes test. Only a chlamydia/gonorrhea, pregnancy test, and urine analysis.
Well now I am down right infuriated. I told at least four or five people that I thought it was herpes so they order a chlamydia/gonorrhea test. WTF. I also told the same four or five people that I was NOT pregnant, and they still are going to charge me for a test, AND they said I had a urine infection when the next day I was at the hospital and my urine came up CLEAN. I also looked up Zithromax which is an antibiotic for chlamydia! Which was the medicine that made me sick.
Do you think I have the right to have them give me the herpes test without charge since they already screwed me over this much? Mind you, I don't have insurance so I am paying all of this out of my pocket.
